Fact Check: "Kids running from tear gas, crying O the phone because their mother was just taken from the fields. Trump calls me 'Newscum' - but he's the real scum"

What We Know

On July 10, 2025, California Governor Gavin Newsom posted a statement on X (formerly Twitter) in response to a raid conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at a cannabis farm in Camarillo, California. In his post, Newsom described a distressing scene where "kids running from tear gas, crying on the phone because their mother was just taken from the fields" and referred to former President Donald Trump as "the real scum" after Trump had previously called him "Newscum" (source-1, source-2).

The raid targeted the Glass House Brands cannabis facility, where federal agents reportedly detained around 30 individuals, including undocumented immigrants. During the operation, tensions escalated, leading to the use of tear gas against protesters and family members of those detained (source-3, source-4). Footage from the scene showed children and protesters fleeing from tear gas, corroborating Newsom's claims about the distress experienced by those present (source-5, source-6).

Analysis

The claim made by Newsom is supported by multiple sources that detail the events surrounding the ICE raid. The description of children fleeing from tear gas and crying on the phone aligns with video footage shared by local news outlets and social media, which depicts a chaotic scene with children visibly distressed (source-3, source-4).

The reliability of the sources is generally high, as they include reputable news organizations and direct statements from public officials. However, some criticism arose regarding the presence of children at a cannabis farm, raising questions about child labor laws and the appropriateness of their involvement in such a setting (source-2). Despite this, the core of Newsom's statement regarding the emotional impact of the raid on children remains substantiated by the evidence presented.

Conclusion

The claim made by Governor Gavin Newsom that children were seen running from tear gas and crying on the phone due to their mother's detention during an ICE raid is True. The evidence from multiple credible sources supports the assertion that the raid caused significant distress among children and families present at the cannabis farm.

Fact Check: Covid nimbus. Here's the symptom you need to know about that nobody's talking about. What's that? You haven't heard of COVID nimbus? Probably need to talk about that too. So let's get to it. Stick to the end. I'll talk a little bit about prevention. So COVID nimbus is the newest variant going on. It is NB. 1. 8. 1. Say that three times fast. And the unfortunate part about this is it looks like it's more contagious than other variants that we've had recently but it doesn't look so bad that it's going to wind you up necessarily in the hospital. But if you followed me at all you know that that's not necessarily the worst thing 00:32 that happens. You can still develop long COVID from any COVID infection that you get no matter how serious it is or not. But it has a gnarly symptom we have not really seen with COVID in the past. And it mimics other things that we see this tiny year so it's going to be even more important that you test for it when you start getting sick. And it's being associated with razor blades. I know it's not from when you pee so don't worry about that one. Don't go down that road. It's at being associated with the sensation of swallowing razor blades because it causes such a severe sore throat it is akin 01:06 to that sensation. And that can be a similar symptom to a lot of other things particularly things we see in kids like strep throat. Or in older kids things like mononucles. Which you also see surges in usually in summer. But prevention things seem to work the same as they've been working. So vaccinate and if you can get a booster and you haven't like in the last three to six months talk to your doctor about doing so. If you are at high risk and have autoimmune issues or autoimmune suppressants do like I did which is get monoclonal antibodies to protect you
